Entrepreneurship is often a lonely road to travel. Be Well Magazine maintains a duty and commitment to provide an impressive cache of networking opportunities and business connections to make that road less daunting. In this issue, I am personally psyched and excited to report that success is not reserved only for the solo artist.

You never make that initial contact or introduce yourself. Why is there such hesitation to jump at the opportunity to congratulate our sisters for their style, charisma, and accomplishments? And even more importantly, why don’t successful, powerful women in leadership take the time to coach, mentor and uplift those who are struggling to start a business, get promoted, or secure a seat in the executive board room?

Although I have always believed that two or more brains are better than one when taking the necessary risks to achieve your dreams, it has taken me about 40 years to attract and work with colleagues who are not only talented but healthy, functional, and fun.

It has been said that one of the most difficult tasks women have is learning how to practice self-love. It has also been said that self-care is self-love. Women are often experts at loving and taking care of what needs to be tended to around us, things outside of us and often neglecting ourselves until we are completely depleted of any and every form of strength or desire to continue forward. Or worse yet, until we are flat on our backs, looking up in dismay.

Hey You, Black Woman!
Recently, I along with six other black female doctors wrote a book titled, The Black Woman’s Health O Pedia. We could no longer sit on the sidelines and watch our sisters succumb to health conditions that could possibly be eradicated with the proper knowledge, resources, and guidance. With alarming statistics like the ones below, it is time we RISE UP and share our knowledge and expertise to help our sisters.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Anxious? Like things are spiraling out of your control? You are not alone! We are all experiencing a situation that we have never been through before and have no idea when things will go back to the way they were (if EVER). We are adapting to a worldwide pandemic which has changed the way we do almost everything. Essential workers are overworked and exhausted. We thank you for all that you do for us, our families, and our communities. Employees, many of whom are now working from home, are spending endless hours at their computers and feeling like they are at work 24 hours a day. We must create balance.

Great Day Be Well Community and Happy Spring
As you peruse through this awesome magazine filled with contributors from all over the USA, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this today. Without the vision of Carmen Ray I would not have the platform to share something I hold dear to my heart— Self-Care, Unapologetically!
